NavCom

Heart of the system

We manufacture the NavCom localization unit both in a version for fixed installation and in two smaller portable models to be placed behind the train windscreen.

Location unit NavCom

Works with Galileo and GPS satellite positioning systems, but can also receive signals from Glonass and BeiDou satellite networks.

The Czech Republic is among the countries with the best satellite coverage — yet trains occasionally lose signal. Thanks to high-quality sensors and intelligent logic, NavCom can determine the exact position even during signal loss. Continuous data buffering ensures reliable operation even without LTE connectivity.

We are developing the NavCom location units in cooperation with the EUSPA and the ESA. Galileo is now the most accurate system with an emphasis on cyber resistance to various types of attacks.

What can NavCom do?

Determining the position of the train with 50 cm accuracy.

Radio communication with the surroundings thanks to a special long-range modem.

Long-distance communication thanks to LTE (to the cloud and for operational control).

Variants of the NavCom unit

NavCom

Fixed installation on the train roof, designed for operation in demanding environments.

  • Accuracy up to 20 cm under ideal conditions
  • Highest level of cybersecurity
  • EN 50155-certified device
  • Connectivity via Wi-Fi and LTE
  • Dimensions: 217 × 204 × 69 mm

NavCom X

Portable unit designed for placement behind the train’s windshield.

  • Accuracy up to 50 cm under ideal conditions
  • Quick and easy installation behind the windshield
  • Powered by battery or onboard socket
  • Connectivity via Wi-Fi and LTE
  • Dimensions: 120 × 120 × 60 mm

NavCom S

The smallest portable unit — the most flexible and cost-effective solution.

  • Accuracy up to 50 cm under ideal conditions
  • Quick and easy installation behind the windshield
  • Low power consumption
  • Connectivity via Bluetooth
  • Dimensions: 55 × 55 × 25 mm

Also works in modern locomotives

It is a well-known fact that there is very poor signal reception inside modern locomotives (especially Traxx and Vectron). The ergonomics of the workplace, the smaller area of the windows and the specific glass provide only a minimal space for the passage of the signal. In addition, it fractures and partially polarizes

Our special multi-constellation GNSS antenna with high sensitivity, special tilt and circular polarization responds to these facts.

Thanks to the GNSS antenna, the NavCom units can capture even a very weak satellite signal and accurately determine the position of the train.
