NavTrain Supports Polish Digital Train Orders

Follow us on:

Since 1 July, Poland has introduced digital train orders across its railway network, joining the growing number of countries modernising the way operational information is delivered to train drivers. Electronic train orders enable faster distribution of up-to-date operational restrictions, improve clarity, and reduce the need for paper documentation.

End of Paper Train Orders on the Polish Railway Network

The Polish railway infrastructure manager PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. (PKP PLK) has introduced mandatory electronic delivery of train orders to train crews via the SERWO2 system. NavTrain by Betrian is securely connected to the PKP PLK servers, ensuring reliable communication.

In response to this change, Betrian integrated NavTrain with the SERWO2 REST API, enabling a seamless transition to digital operations for railway operators running services on the Polish network.

How Polish Digital Train Orders Work in NavTrain

NavTrain now enables train drivers to automatically download the latest digital train orders after entering the Polish train number, electronically sign them, and continuously monitor whether a new version has been issued. The entire process takes place directly within the application that drivers already use every day for the Czech section of their route. If connectivity is lost, the application immediately notifies the driver.

This allows railway operators running services in Poland or across the Czech–Polish border to work within the single, familiar NavTrain interface without having to train their drivers to use multiple applications. At the same time, operators gain confidence that they are always working with the latest version of train orders in real time, with their receipt verifiably confirmed through electronic signatures.

Our train drivers actively participated in a month-long testing phase of digital train orders in NavTrain before the system went live. The transition to everyday operation was smooth, and our colleagues adapted to the new workflow within just a few shifts. The entire process is faster, more transparent, and eliminates the risk of a driver working with an outdated train order.
