Facade Panel Adoption System for the New Ice Hockey Arena

Follow us on:

Digital adoption of physical elements has become a popular way to raise additional funds for local construction projects. The city of Jihlava decided to use this approach for the construction of its new ice hockey arena. Supporters could contribute towards original facade panels, which will then bear a label with their name.

System for adopting facade panels for new hockey arenas

Our task was to comprehensively ensure this connection between the virtual and the physical world—from the web interface and secure payment collection to the production of labels and distribution of donation certificates.

We helped the client to:

  • Manage the entire agenda associated with panel adoption
  • Create a specialized adoption website
  • Automate the sending of confirmations and certificates
  • Connect adoptions/payments with the production of personalized labels

Where the project started

The construction of the new multifunctional arena is one of the largest investment projects in the city’s modern history. That is also why the city decided to connect citizens with the project through the adoption of elements, allowing individuals and local companies to physically link their names with this new landmark.

We were approached thanks to our work on the adoption system for the Church of St. James in Brno, where we demonstrated our ability to deliver everything required for this type of project from websites, applications, and databases to a functional backend system and precise project management.

Client requirements

Our task was to comprehensively connect all necessary components of the adoption process into a fully functional whole. To enable adoption through a dedicated website that would be intuitive and accessible to everyone, making the selection of a panel and payment as simple as possible.

At the same time, we ensured its smooth operation and integrated payment modules. In short, we delivered a robust technical backbone for the entire project.

Finally, we provided a public online list of donors as well as an internal list for the subsequent ordering of labels. Automatic sending of donation certificates and confirmations used by donors for tax deductions was, of course, included.

Solution: End-to-End Digital Adoption

We launched a dedicated website https://fasada.hma.cz/, where users could adopt one of the facade panels of the arena.

The entire arena and all its panels were divided into a clear, interactive map. Individual panels are categorized by their location and size, creating several donation tiers—from smaller panels starting at CZK 1,000 to the largest and most prominent ones priced at CZK 100,000.

We designed the entire adoption process to be as intuitive as possible. On the website, a user clicks the “I want to adopt” button and is redirected to an interactive model of the arena, where they select a specific panel by clicking on it. Color shading also indicates which panels have already been selected by other contributors.

After selecting a panel, the user fills in their name and specifies what should be written on the label in a dialog window, then proceeds to payment via a payment gateway. Once the payment is completed, the system automatically sends the text and the selected panel information into the system. At the end of the adoption process, this data serves as the basis for ordering engraving and attaching the personalized label to the correct panel on the arena.

We also created an online page listing donors, complemented by a physical donor book located directly in the arena. The adoption website is connected to a system for issuing verified digital certificates used for tax deductions. After selecting and paying for a facade panel, the donor immediately receives a thank-you message along with their certificate.

Summary

We are proud to have been part of one of the largest investment projects in the city’s modern history.

For the new ice hockey arena, we created a complete adoption system where individuals and companies could contribute to the construction by purchasing facade panels and permanently associate their name with this unique building.

The adoption process takes place online via a dedicated website. Each purchase is automatically connected to certificate issuance, donation confirmation for tax purposes, and the engraving of the label on the panel.
