Delivery of NavCom Localization Units and NavData Application for a Railway Test Polygon

Follow us on:

We supplied the NavCom localization units and NavData application to a railway testing center.

During tests of rolling stock on the test circuit, the system precisely records all movement and stationary data.

We helped the client:

  • Capture and store all key data from tested railway vehicles
  • Obtain more accurate data than the previous solution allowed
  • Expand the volume and range of data collected during testing

What challenge did the client bring?

The railway testing center needed a device for its test track that could accurately record all key data during railway vehicle testing, while remaining simple to operate and handle.

Client Requirements

The client required the ability to record position, movement, speed, idle times, and impact data.

With the old system, data logs often contained inconsistencies — particularly when vehicles were moving, stationary, or experienced shocks.

The new unit also had to be compact and portable, allowing quick installation into a tested vehicle and easy removal afterward.

Our Solution

Our NavCom unit determines the train’s position with an accuracy of up to 70 centimeters and records all movement and stationary data.

This version of the NavCom is a lightweight, portable unit that can be easily mounted behind the train windshield or magnetically attached to a wagon.

The entire installation process takes about one minute, making it ideal for use on a test polygon, where rapid setup and flexibility are key.

Together with the NavData web application, all recorded positions and events can be clearly visualized and analyzed.

The entire system is open and modular, allowing new functionalities to be added in the future without significant changes to the existing setup.

Summary

For the railway test circuit, we delivered NavCom localization units along with the NavData visualization application.

The solution fully met the client’s expectations for ease of use, precision, robustness of data, and clear visualization and export capabilities.

Thanks to its open architecture, the system can be easily expanded to meet future requirements and support additional functionalities.
